How we work
We are a reference, not an opinion outlet. We summarise what each party has written or voted, under rules anyone can check.
- 01
Primary sources, and when not, we say so
Each line comes from the party's programme, one of its official documents, a bill it has registered or a vote in Congress. If all we have is a report of a vote or an announcement, we link the report, date it, and mark the entry as an earlier position, not a programme.
- 02
We describe positions without adjectives
We write what the party proposes, in its own words where we can, without adjectives and without verbs like "promises" or "claims". If an entry contains loaded terms, an automatic check blocks its publication.
- 03
The same room for everyone
On each subject, party summaries are of similar length. An automated check blocks publication if one summary is twice the length of another. No party gets more room for being bigger.
- 04
Alphabetical order
Parties appear alphabetically in every list and table. Only your quiz result changes the order: it sorts by your own agreement percentage.
- 05
Where there is no position, the entry says so
If we have not found a party's position on a subject, its entry says so. In the quiz, that statement neither adds nor subtracts for that party, and the result shows how many answers it was based on.
- 06
How the quiz is scored
Exact match: one point. Qualified position: half a point. Disagreement: zero. Statements you mark as important count double. The percentage is the weighted average. Ties go to the party with more data, then to alphabetical order.
- 07
The quiz runs on your device
The quiz is worked out on your device and sends nothing to a server. Closing the tab clears your answers.
- 08
When the programmes come out
Until a party publishes its programme for this election, its entry rests on earlier documents and votes, and the entry says so. When the programme comes out, we check every line and update the date.
